New engine in the RX: 2 problems

Recommended Posts

Finally started it up 2 nights ago, just put in a jdm engine, used my old intake manifold and accessories. Some of the EGR and cruise control lines were not matching up, after looking through all my manuals and even going through year specific manuals at the dealership, I said screw it, and plugged the hole. SO I started the car up, and its got a horrendous tapping noise. I'm guessing maybee the valves need to be adjusted??? I messed with the timing, and this changed nothing. Then I decide to drive it down the road and back. I pull half way out the garage to discover my brothers broken down truck behind me does not leave enough room to back out. So I try to go into 1st and the car doesn't want to shift, and then it does, but doesn't want to go :banghead:

both my subarus aren't running and now its snowing :banghead:

sounds like the HVLA's are in need of some oil. .

hmm, the oil level was nearly full when I 1st started it, then I topped it off after running a little while. Further suggestions? As far as the clutch, should I just mess with the cable adjustment some more?

since you got a jdm motor it must have sat for a while without running, the lifters can go dry.

now that it all runs it will just have to pump themselves back up. run the engine nice and warm and let the oil pressure do its trck, the noise should go away after you start putting miles on the motor
