chadwick Posted January 11, 2005 Share Posted January 11, 2005 91 subaru loyale 72k for sale thinking about buying it no rust or rot at all 5spd sedan when you push the 4wd button it doesn't work the garage said it was not the switch in the stick part, anyone with any solutions or answers? WJM Posted January 11, 2005 Share Posted January 11, 2005 one of the cav solenoids behind the drivers side strut tower might be bad, or not plugged in correctly. also the vac lines to the actuator on the tranny might be off or hooked up wrong as well. MilesFox Posted January 11, 2005 Share Posted January 11, 2005 one way to you have this vac leak is that all of the other heater selections still blow out of the dash vents only under the hood on the passenger side firewall there is a white vacuum canister, and there should be a skinny hose going toward the motor. make sure this hose is connected. the 4wd uses vacuum pressure to actuate itself Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mdjdc Posted January 11, 2005 Share Posted January 11, 2005 Buy the car. If you look at the four weel drive system, it is a vaccuum control to a cable mechanism. If need be you could put in a cable to the cabin and use that to engage the FWD. I thought about doing that with mine until I realized that the dash light just wasn't coming on. Good Luck with it.
