PBRme
Hey- Trying to replace the low beam and high beam lamps on the passenger side of my '01 OB Wagon (legacy). I'm not a huge dude, there is not a hole lot of room in between in the air intake and that grey plastic cover that protect the lights. I can get the cover off, but it's difficult to manipulate the bulbs in that space and I don't want to touch the bulb part with my bare hands. Any tricks? Do I need to deal with the tight space or is it smarter to unbolt the air intake? Any suprises I should be aware of? Also- do I really need to replace BOTH lamps? Neither appear to be working, the high beam appears to have shattered, does failure in the high beam cause the low beam to not work? I ain't super technical and am somewhat likely to screw this up. Generally very entertaining for my neighbors AND want to get this done on Saturday so I can watch the Pats whoop up on Peyton "abnormally large forehead" Manning on Sunday, again, but this does not seem worth paying someone to do. Thanks for your suggestions
unverviking
I just did both low beams on out 01 OBW a few months ago. I don't remember anything out of the ordinary in having trouble getting the bulb in place. I do remember trying to get the retaining clip off the first time... I also did the Fog Light bulb, that was memorable. That was tighter than the low beam, plus I had to lie down on the ground (gravel driveway) to get at it... BTW... The low beam is a 55 watt bulb only, it's not like a 9003/4/6, etc. It's what I call a "fog light" bulb. I went to Advance, they didn't sell them, but the kid behind the counter told me it was a dealer only item, expect to pay over 100 bucks for it. Needless to say, my trusty friend at NAPA had the bulb for only $3.91 /ea. Good Luck and go Steelers...
PBRme
Thanks for the help, it's just in a really tight spot I guess, plus doing it after work in dark doesn't help either...
