Just HOW do you get those STUPID electrical connectors (OK, maybe it's me that's stupid) OFF! WITHOUT breaking them of course????? HELP!! mbeau Posted January 16, 2005 Share Posted January 16, 2005 I'm not sure if they are the same but I became intimate with the washer motors on my 97 Impreza OBS. The front one got whimpy and finally quit. I messed with the lines and nozzles because it was still making noise. I finally got a motor and found a bloated mouse in the tank. No clue how that happened but the hair and rotting meat apparently trashed the pump. On mine the whiole tank lifted out easily after removing one bolt. This made getting at the connections much easier. The pumps on mine just have a friction fit in a rubber grommet through the tank body. The wiring connectors were tough but once I cleaned them off and lifted it enough to see them it made sense. Be very gentle as always. My back one has been a challenge as the hose running out into the tailgate keeps cracking which leads to a nice shower of washer fluid into the interior once it fills the trim voids. SubeeTed You need to use a VERY short, small flat-blade screwdriver. With the screwdriver pointed upward (blade facing up toward the hood) insert screwdriver blade gently between connector and locking tab. When locking tab is gently pried aside, you'll be able to remove connector from front washer pump. Note: on my '98 OBW, dirt had accumulated on the connector, so I had to spray it with a garden hose to be able to see the locking tab and how it actually engages into the connector. It's just an upside-down version of the connector on the rear washer pump, but accessing it requires using the very short, small flat blade screwdriver. (can't over-emphasize that---must be very short because there's no clearance beneath the connector) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
