Brayburks
Before my legacy warms up it surges violently when i accellerate through the gears. It seams that if I take it easy it doesn't do it that bad. Also when it warms up, it is not as noticeable. I read in another thread that it is good to clean the throttle postion sensor, but I haven't gotten to that yet. Is there something else that I should consider?? lmdew
It may be the Intake Air Control Valve. If you have a manual, it tells you how to check it. Once the car is warm, it has little effect on the engine. Good Luck.
Legacy777
I think you were referring to the idle air control valve. It has a great deal to do with how the engine runs when warmed up. The valve has two parts, and electro-mechanical portion that is controled by the computer to allow a certain amount of air in the engine, and a temp controlled portion that uses a bi-metallic metal to close a secondary valve when temp gets above a certain point. It might be the TPS, but you may want to replace the coolant temp sensor. it's like 20 bucks from liberty subaru http://www.newsubaru.com
