Phizinza
I downloaded a picture of the stats for the 82 Subaru Brat and it said it had 71bhp and 54lbs-ft. I have an 89 with EA81 (pushrod, cos the utes never changed like the wagons did) I had a look on globalcar.com at the 89 Legacy 1.8 GL 4WD (OHC) and they say it has 102bhp and 107lbs-ft. How much power would a stock 89 ute have? Not that my engine is stock, still figuring out whats in there :-)
RavenTBK
Well, since it still has an EA81 pushrod motor, I'd still lean towards the pushrod specs. From all I've read, an EA81 is an EA81, regardless of which year it was used in what country. Only difference in specs I can think of would be if you've got an 81 with big valves (hydraulic lifters). My stats list 72hp/90ftlbs as the specs for my 84 Brat, which, again from all I've read, is when Subaru switched over to the big valves. I'd run with numbers right along those lines and you should be on target.
Phizinza
It's got a ground cam, bigger valves, 2'in extractors, 2 webber carbies. And I think it goes a lot harder then a stock one, but its the only one i've driven. 90lbs-ft huh? Well, thats cool. Thanks anyway.
