If I already have them on, I usually will leave them on, then (if the normal exhaust stud holes are stripped out, I just tap new threads into the metal spacers.... The head is brand new, so I didn't think rust/corrosion would be an issue. I'll wrench at it some more. And yes, I stripped one of the exhaust studs. Oops.
