Jibs
My other post kinda got away from me, there's good info in it, but it wasn't exactly what I had in mind. So here's the question: What can you do to a subaru to make it more offroad capable? I know there's an offroad sticky in this forum, but lets get some more info that's not already there into here. What can you do In Detail, to make your soob more capable? What engine work, accessories, trannies, etc. can make ANY soob better offroad? Help me If I forget something or you want to add. 1 - LSD front/rear 2 - D/R 5Speed Tranny 3 - EA81 - Built? - Help?! 4 - Pugeot Wheels/Tires - See above sticky post for tire stuff
MorganM
Pass stringent tech inspections If you meet these criteria you will have yourself a safe offroad rig and have a safe trail riding experience for yourself and everyone else. Here are some examples: http://www.ci4wi.org/Castana2004.htm http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/rlp/regulations/ohv/ohvregs04_05.pdf http://crawl4cure.org/docs/Tech_Inspection.pdf
RavenTBK
Dont limit your wheel selection to just pugs. Going Toyota 6 lug will give you a much larger selection of wheels and tyres too. Easy to do, tough to beat. http://www.subarubrat.com/6lugconv.htm edit: duh. just noticed you've already done such in your sig. heh.. but others can still benefit. nobody reads stickies anyways.. gotta beat the info into their heads. carfreak85
This may be really obvious, but have you removed your anti-roll bar? That will help some. T-case will help. I notice you mentioned a LSD, but have you considered a welded rear diff?
bushbasher
double doj rear axles and longer shock absorbers (applies to ea81s but ea82s benefit from double dojs as well) rear disc brake conversion welded diff dual front ebrake (front cutting brakes) skid plates and bumpers winch custom longer travel front struts
monstaru
i have always believed that if you want a more capable trail rig you have to test your limits with the one you have or are building.find out how stuff breaks, after you already have spare parts that break normally.find out what you are capable of and you will find out if your rig needs to be more stout.i know this does not go into specifics on the vehicle itself , yet i find it very important.alot of people can say that their rigs do this and that but,it does not mean that a bunch of bolt ons or upgrades or modifications has made it a better rig for offroad.people need different things for their environments.you are always gonna have the basics.ie:flex, travel, grip, gearing etc......just my 2 cents
