johnd911 Posted August 23, 2003 Share Posted August 23, 2003 My passenger side boot is shredded on my 93 legacy steering rack, I bought a new boot and clamps BUT how do i go about it in my driveway with no ramps, just a floor jack. thanks. there is no leakage which is good (317,000 miles). lmdew Posted August 24, 2003 Share Posted August 24, 2003 Buy a set of jack stands, your life is worth much more. Now that you have the car in the air, loosen the tierod lock nut then remove the tierod cotter pin and nut and remove the tierod. can then unscrew it and put the new boot on. Strakes Posted August 24, 2003 Share Posted August 24, 2003 Speaking of jack stands, chocks and properly securing your vehicle in order to safely work on it from underneath: Local newspaper reported about 2 weeks ago that a man died working doing a front brake pad replacement. The minivan fell off of the floor jack and on top of him. His wife and kids found him crushed in the garage.
