mcbrat
well, after just over 1 year of "down time" Svengouli7's old wagon is up and fully functional again.... see post here... I'll try to get some pics Wednesday..... it looks really cool with the wheels/tires combo I have on it.... it's running now with a weberized hydraulic lifter ea81 from a 86 Brat. also has a ea81 radiator in it too.... also running an ea81 PS pump... I tried to put a ea81 from a 83 Brat in it, and that motor had a bad rod bearing (it was totally gone). so next I got a 86 parts brat, yanked the motor, but the exhaust studs had welded themselves into the emissions spacer. while getting it off, I ended up damaging the head (drivers side), so I ended up using the drivers side head from the 83 engine to replace the broken on one the 86 engine. all is good now... even got some new wipers for it tonight I will be adding some more stuff to it as well - brushguard - Yakima rack/basket - Replace VLSD with regular LSD - dust wing Have already added: - MSD Coil - Amp and MTX Road Thunder Boxes in the rear cargo area **** Edit pics here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=4020&size=big&sort=1&cat=

mcbrat
So I take it, this is a keeper? For Now I have some other plans for my 82 Brat that might require some funds..... It's nice to be back in a wagon though.... also, I can't believe how much better the heater works in this thing, compared to any ea81 I've had... the plan was for this wagon to be my daily driver through the winter oh well, better late than never... mcbrat
a little bit more tweaking tonight. founf the hill holder clip, and adjusted the clutch. also had to throw in a different alternator. Adjusted the choke and Idle, and it's running good.... will be interesting to see how this one does with the water choke... didn't seem likeas much of a pain to plumb it as I have heard...... Qman
Very nice! Glad it worked out for you. That has to be some kind of a record. Three lifted Subes at one time!!
MilesFox
so if i understand this right this is an ea81 in an ea82 car? very nice! i take it you swapped the pitch bar mounts? did you use ea81 or ea82 anciliaries?
mcbrat
Very nice! Glad it worked out for you. That has to be some kind of a record. Three lifted Subes at one time!! actually, this is the second time I've had 3 at once. previously it was: Current 86 Blue Brat, 3" Previous Mountain Grizzly 82 Wagon, 3" Previous Black 84 Turbo Brat, 4" so I'm maintaining the Brat/Wagon Ratio
mcbrat
so if i understand this right this is an ea81 in an ea82 car? very nice! i take it you swapped the pitch bar mounts? did you use ea81 or ea82 anciliaries? Since It's lifted, it already had a extended pitch bar, so I used it, and the EA82 engine side mount.... but had to come up with a way to mount it properly. this may have been easier if the EGR was gone, but ended up being pretty simple anyway... I will get a pic of it later.... I am using all ea81 ancillaries. I had a custom hose made to hook up to a ea81 PS pump. I'm also using a ea81 radiator and fan. had to do a little cutting bending for that. there is pics of that in my gallery.....
