85glwagon
I was wundering if it is possible to take the engine (ea82) and tranny out of an 85 gl wagon and put it in an 88 gl hatchback that had an ea81 engine. anyone done this?
Sweet82
Anything is possible! And Subarus are easy! As far as the motor goes, I'd make sure you have the computer and black boxes out of the Hatch. You'd need to match the Fuel Pump control unit to the carb so you'd have to transfer that from the donor car. Do a Search on the motor swap? ballitch
you will be more than satisfied with that swap, will he need different axles? and perhaps a differnt driveline? are the EA81 and EA82 trannys the same length? ~Josh~
Sweet82
I understand the axles to be the same... The drive lines will change depending on if it is a 4 or 5 speed tranny. 4 Speed will be one piece 5 Speed will be two... The hatch and wagon are different length vehicles so some shortening/lenghtening may be in order. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--shortened driveline. (-"15) 01 Forester--factory driveline
