Pine Barrens while there's white stuff around???

Or,at least plan a good late March/early April date?

There's the Pittsfield(MA) Ice races/Carnival,but my wife is freaked out by it and I won't be going.......waaaaaaagh!!!

I really want to hit Jersey sometime in the next month or two to go to Jeff's place and shop his store. It's be a good day made even better if we hit the trails for a couple of hours.

Hopefully,I won't make a date that I have to back out on.We're so close to jumping from our place to our next place.....could be a closing date,or two, instore for us very soon.

I dunno, need some suggestions on what the spot would need... there's some good stuff in the adirondacks, etc....

I wanted to go last year to "the pine Barrens" excursion, but other half had other ideas. If you guys finally decide on someplace central, will at least show face and try some lil offroad trailin. Maybe motvate me enough to get brat on road by then.

Paul~see you soon here or there...Keep us posted on movin situation. Jeff

  • 2 weeks later...
The Adirondacks are beautiful... drove through there in winter a few years back... the full moon cast over a little pond... gorgeous... works for me. The Corning area is nice too, into Northern PA lots of wanky roads there.

Well, come up with a certain spot where we can legally off road and I'm sure a flock will gather.

So far the Pine Barrens has worked out well, being that there's a good amount of PA and Jersey people who will actually show up.

Me,I'd love to all meet here and terrorize country clubs.

Where we meet is firstly at the Red Lion Diner at the intersection of rts. 70 and 206.You'll get off exit 7 of the NJT'pike and head south.Naturally, you're welcome to meet up with me and attack en force.

The Diner is about 20 minues from the exit. After a morning feed,we head south for another 10-15 minutes to Atsion-where there's a ranger station and large grassy area/parking.

There's another off road spot down the road as well in back of Atco drag strip.Gotta love the noise.

Ask Dave,he knows where to go.Check those links above,Melis. We meet either at the diner at the intersection of rt's 206 and 70 or at the ranger station in Atsion, just south of the diner by about 5-10 miles. There's a big grassy area where you'll see a bunch of dorks with their hoods up,etc......

Paul, How "challenging" is Pine Barrens? I'm not sure I want to subject the Baja to "towed-out-of-mudholes" kind of roads... and I don't have room for another sube for that kind of play :)

Plenty of two wheel drive vehicles go through there. It's sandy roads. The driving trails are typically loose sand. Not much actual dirt.We can,and likely will hit water holes and maybe a touch of dirt/mud as we know it.I kind of want to go fairly soon, but not too soon.If the weather stays mild and fairly snowless it'll still be a little loose and greasy but not as crazy as going in with ice and snow or even the few days after it's melting. That kind of would be cool with a lifted vehicle and the right tires but I'm not in that league right now.

:(

You can always show up and leave it out on the grass and go with someone else.Folks have shown up in 2WD cars and chickened out,I mean uhh,sat in the kiddie seat...

Nah... no kiddie seat, but I don't want to "void" my warranty, so to speak... think they would consider it just "off-roading" which BTW is a major selling point for the Baja? I mean what is off-roading exactly? Tim's new F-350 boldly proclaims "4x4 Off-Road" on the decals. It's a BIG FAT question for the manufacturers.

Does this meen I need to get my Loyal running?:) But really if I take another trip befor April my wife will kill me, besides I'm not sure I would have the time anyway. I would be up for a later date, that way I might have time to patch up the Loyal and get it out there. Gee if I'm really lucky maybe I can sell it when I bring it out there.:brow:

2 things....

You'd better keep the wife and scratch the play date-my opinion. You get to go to lots of cool functions.I don't have to tell you about greasing the wheel.....

And,I'll gladly testdrive the Loyale and get right back to you about it.:)
