MorganM
I was trying to pull an XT6 steering wheel lastnight so I could try and swap it onto my GL wagon. I poped off the horn button and looked behind the metal plate there. No access to the main nut. I can't get to the screws on the back of the steering wheel cover. No key to unlock the ignition switch so I can move the wheel around. How does this darn thing come off?
85Sub4WD
I feel bad noone has said anything yet. My suggestion would be to remove the steering column (plastic part) and see where that gets you, but I don't have expierence with XT's.
MilesFox
oh man the xt is a whole different story pulling the column, the instruments come with the column, there is the tilt cable that has to be disconnected, and many more bolts holding it to the dash. not to mention the wires! good luck
MorganM
Yeah I got all the covers off. That was the easy part. Got the 'satelites' loose. All I REALLY want is just the steering wheel. Can't I just get the wheel w/o getting the whole colum out?

MilesFox
looks like you will have to bust the lock cylinder out or bust off the whole thing to defeat the locking pin on the column, if it comes down to having to turn the wheel at a different angle to remove screws.
