what the deal with ea82t pcv system?

i wanted to make a new intake pipe to replace the piece between the maf and the turbo inlet, but theres too many other hoses going into it! this pcv system looks overly complex.

 

it looks like the pass. side vents in after the maf. the drivers side has hoses that go from the valve cover to before the TB, after the TB AND it looks like theres a hose coming from the tranny? all that before finally going into the intake tract.

 

i know theres another small hose that goes into the intake tract, but im not sure what its for... anyway, is there a way i can simplify this mess while still keeping it somewhat legal for inspection?
