NoahDL88 Posted February 8, 2005 Share Posted February 8, 2005 as an engineer for airbags, i can say that without a doubt, unless you want to snap your neck, those headrests are absolutely necessary in a collision, unless you're doing this to clean them, i'd highly reccomend that they stay on. lrgvanman Posted October 20, 2017 Share Posted October 20, 2017 I have an ea81 1984 GL Wagon that has headrests that seem frozen in place. They won't go up or down. I would like to take 'em off for the simple act of putting on seat covers, otherwise, I guess I'll have to slit the top of the cover slightly and throw in a couple of stitches to close it back up.
