EA82T: Higher flow fuel injector upgrade?

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if I asked on this forum, but I know I did on the NASIOC. If I were to upgrade my fuel injectors from 180cc's to let's say, ummmmm....450cc's, would this cause a no idle condition? The reason that I'm asking is because I have the chance to buy 4 450cc injectors for $40. If anyone can shed some light on this subject, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You for your time.

Hey Patrick

Not many injectors fit the EA cars, whats the source of the ones your looking at?

The Datsun/Nissan 280Z/ZX and 300ZX ones should fit, I have some 280Z ones on my bench and they sure look the part, the coil resistance is the same but I havent test fit them in a Subie manifold yet.

More info about Datsun/Nissan injectors in this thread:

Patrick, my guess would be 'Yes'. If you were to upgrade your fuel injectors from 180ccs to 450ccs, you would have a really bad idle, if any idle at all. The 450cc injectors flow 250% more than the 180cc injectors. No good for stock ECU.

On the otherhand, I encourage you to try them out. First hand experience is a learning experience. Good luck! :drunk:
