dtippmann
My 96 Impreza Brighton 1.8L has recently had trouble both starting and idling. The problem was first noticed when the weather was below zero and it had trouble starting (it would crank but not start unless the accellerator pedal was pressed). I put a bottle of techron fuel treatment through it and it seemed to help the problem but it now won't start unless I depress the gas pedal slightly. A Honda mechanic told me to check the tube extending between the mass air-flow sensor and the throttle-body for air-leaks. The tube seems to be leak-free. Any ideas? LeakingOil
Try checking your coolant temp sensor. I was having same issues and changed it a few days ago...no problems since. Part is roughly 25 and change from dealer.
SlipSquad
engines need 3 things to run... AIR ... check your filters, sensor plugs & piping FIRE... changes your spark plugs, check your wires & ignition components FUEL... change your fuel filter, put some injector cleaner in the tank. Simple yet effective. Had a similar problem recently w/ my 99' 2.2L Legacy. Spark Plugs, Fuel Filter & Oil Change(prolly didn't fix the priblem) cleared it right up.
