Beat these prices on parts?

Recommended Posts

The price you quoted for HG's is good, but I would personally never use anything besides SOA gaskets for those and the intake manifold, which can be had from 1stsubaruparts for just a few dollars more.

I'm down with Felpro; but I wonder if copper headgaskets would be the way to go...

I think the issues with copper HG's might have been due to improper sealant or something. Also, copper gaskets generally require more torque, and I wouldn't want to do that without going to head studs, which is major $$$.

Remember, WJM ran his 9.5:1 turbo motor for 20,000 miles without any HG problems (he used SOA gaskets). I think the factory ones are probably pretty good.

Just ready ever thread with "copper head gasket" in it. +5 ft lbs of torque was recomended by manufacture of the copper head gaskets so I'm not worried about studs. Avaialbility might be an issue; only saw EA82t guys talking abuot running them; dunno if any for the n/a heads were made. I've never compared T to N/A heads so I dunno; are they identical head gaskets?

I'll find out about availability and price. Then I'll decide on what I'm buying.

They list a radiator for a manual trannied RX for $138.88. What I don't see is if it's for an RX or RX turbo. Are they one in the same? Is this a good price for a radiator? I'm trying to keep everything in tip top shape and cool before cranking up the boost more. Thanks!

Edit: ThePartsbin lists a heavy duty radiator for the RX turbo for $136.92.

Subaruparts.com list one for: $255.23 (Part# 45181GA651)

Thepartsbin and my parts book lists warnings about the radiator and fitment with aftermarket or dealer installed A/C units. What gives?

I just bought a 2-row radiator for an RX/turbo car from radiator.com. They listed around $125, but gave it to me for $100. They would probably give that deal again, but I'm not sure. Shipping to Alaska was $25 extra. The radiator was a good quality unit, and Roxanne runs cool as a cuke' now.

I also called 1stsubaruparts.com, and the reason it's so expensive is that they no longer sell a direct replacement radiator for that car. It's some retrofit kit that includes some other stuff.

Morgan, being the Carquest counterpro that I am, I'd be happy to get you some prices tommorow morning at work. The only downfall is that I am down her in Waseca, and your up in Apple Valley? Well, anyways, I'll see what I can do for you! Kurt

That would be awsome; see what you can come up with for numbers on those parts. If they are cheaper I'll drive down and get them :)

By the way, you wont hurt my feelings if you dont buy the parts from me, I just wanted to see how competitive we were! Kurt

I'd say you guys are REAL competitive. Those Checker prices were by far the cheapest I'd found locally and online.

Awe man, this is good information. Now I know where I'll be getting my radiator from. My current radiator turns to fine dust when you press on it. :(
