deras Posted August 26, 2003 Share Posted August 26, 2003 impreza wagon, 140k miles, auto transmission, 1.8liter engine I have a blown head gasket. There is also a jingle jangle related to the transmission the first few minutes of driving at lower speeds. has anyone else had head gasket or transmission problems with this car. and was there more engine damage beyond having to change the gasket. what's the highest mileage people have on the original engine and auto transmission for this car? what is the avg cost of a rebuilt engine installed? rebuilt transmission installed? feel free to post a repair history. the only repairs i have had to make were changing all the seals and gaskets, new timing belt, and water pump so far ($600). lmdew Posted January 31, 2006 Share Posted January 31, 2006 Was the coolant system purged of air when they did the water pump? If not, this often causes the HG to go or what looks like a HG problem.
