SilverSubie
The cv boots split on the 96 Legacy, and I figure I just might as well replace the entire half shaft (front passenger). Though I was looking through the manual, and I am missing a couple tools. Where would be a good place to either buy or rent the axel remover and ball joint tool? lmdew
Nothing needed for the axle. Just pull it out. The inner joint, you need a pin punch to drive out the pin. The balljoint does not need to come out completely. Just pull the bottom strut bolt, drop the torsion bar link and you can pry down the A-arm. That way you do not have to get a new alingnment. lmdew
I have used axles, $10 each.

Olnick
SilverSubie--do a search here on the board. Edrach (the axle guru!) did an excellent writeup of the procedure a while back. Good luck!
