shawnsbrat
Got my ea81 block back from ram performance, looks sweet. time to assemble.looking for the best possible sealer I can use between the engine case halves. I dont want to see a drop of oil anywhere once this thing is done. ram engines installed extra dowel pins in the case so It probably has a better chance of not leaking but was looking for first hand advice on a good sealer.thanks
rallyruss
permatex ultra grey is the easyest to find and works well.
MorganM
As I was told by Subaru sages of old when I first redid my EA82... don't be sad when it does start "sweating" some oil. It is a Subaru afterall

Snowman
Permatex Anaerobic Gasket Maker. Best stuff for case halves (and on EA82s, cam towers). Recommended to me my a long-time mechanic who is now a professor at UAA. It's also what we use on all the Cummins, Detroit Diesel, etc for metal-to-metal sealing. I like Cummins RTV also, it's thicker than regular ultra grey. Hondabond *gasp* is awesome, also.

RenaissanceMan
W3rd. I like Cummins RTV also, it's thicker than regular ultra grey. Hondabond *gasp* is awesome, also. for assembling case halves, you dont want to have any body with your sealer. Suddenly your main bearing clearances are looser than they are supposed to be. :-\ I use the Permatex Aviation stuff, which is similar to the #2, etc... Its non drying, resistant to everything (including brake cleaner to an extent), and designed specifically for assmebling machined surfaces together. just my 2 cents -Mike
