Phaedras
Was just wondering if any of you use prexisting cold air intake kits to mod your Subes. I know some have used such kits and even relocated the filter between fender and body. In these cases, what happened to the stock air intake hose? There is only limited clearance between the top of the TB and I can't imagine a 3 inch pipe at a 90 degree angle being able to clear the hood. Besides that, which material was used to extend or modify the CAI?
subyrally
there is actually a lot more room between the intake plenum and the hood, i got an elbow to fit there with room to spare, not that i kept it that way. i am not sure of many existing intakes that fit, i made mine from pvc pipe sections and hoses i got at home depot. Phaedras
To be honest, the kits were initially meant for other cars (subedave's was for a '00+ Saturn...go figure) but could be adapted for older Subes.
Caboobaroo
I have an AEM cold air intake for a '02 WRX that I'm doing some slight mods to so it will work on my RX. Won't take much but I won't be totally for sure until I have the motor back in the car. I have a TD04 turbo as well and I'm using an '05 STi turbo inlet pipe to go from the CAI to the turbo. incognito
i used the stock intake to the MAF, then adapted the k&n cone intake to the MAF with an injector cap.. The k&n filter protrudes into the fender approx 2". part number: RX-3990-
