torxxx
Postin for Subaruthless since I'm already logged in and we use the same computer. It picks up alright under light pressure on the throttle. When you floor it, it doesnt hardly get going at all. noticeable around 3500 rpms. floor it and it doesnt gain speed at all. When we got the Brat it had noticeable blowby in the airbox and filter. we changed the filter. seafoam deep creep'd the carb. I'm thinkin the secondary isnt opening. Or possible the PCV is plugged and its blowing by all the crankcase pressure into the carb causing it to choke itself out. Anyone got any other ideas? Thanks for whoever posts.. Ross
Could be caused by a weak spark also. Sounds like what happened when my condenser went bad - it probably got elec ignition though does it?
northguy
You might also look at the internals of the distributor to see if they move or are stuck.
FlyB0y
from the sounds of it, could be classic over-rich from a dirty carb, how do the plugs look? I have never used the seafoam, but I think to really know that a carb is clean you need to disassemble it and boil it out with acid, check all the jets/circuits with a torch tip cleaner and compressed air to make sure they are flowing free ... then you KNOW the carb is truly clean
torxxx
you guys are gonna laugh... I figured it out after he blew a fan belt. It was the belt. One of those V belts with no teeth, it was slipping, and not charging the battery. the coil musta been usin enough power to drain it when he really got on it. New belt from my EA82, thing drives like a champ.
FlyB0y
Don't feel bad ... I once took my chevy 350 PU to a mechanic to find out why it was loosing power and discovered that the air filter was almost black!!
