05 STi brakes/hubs on Leone...

Ok, for my "Stage 5" setup....currently I am at stage 0.75....my plans are to use the 2005 USDM Impreza WRX STi Version front hub/knuckle on my Leone RX/II, and adapt the rear stuff onto the RX as well.

I am also planning to equip the car with a 22B'ish widebody kit...17x13 rims (YES, 17 inch diameter and 13 inch width) and running 335/35/17 Khumo V710's as race tires and the Michelin Pilot sports in the same size for the street. The rims WILL be the correct offset/backspace as to not mess with the suspension/steering geometry too much...and I can almost do anything I want with control arms/trailing arms as long as I dont make/change the original mounting points for the class I am running in for Solo2...which is street mod.

I will have a fully built transmission and about 400~450 at the crank with a good autox powerband (read, FAST spooling turbo, power from 2600 to 8000 etc) to turn that rubber, and full coilover suspension/bushings/etc....

Does anyone see any problems with this?

I am not using the rear knuckles..so I dont need the subframe. Just the backingplate/hub stuff.

Saying stage keeps it all stright in my head, so knock it off. :-p

 How can you just use the hubs? Don't you need to mount them to the knuckes? '05 STi stuff is compatable?

I will need to use the knuckle up front, thats not an issue.

I can probably have a new axle stub machined for the rear so the hub will slide on the shaft and bolt down. Then its a matter of making/finding a backing plate so the caliper hardware will mount up.

Interesting.... I'd like to see you pull this off.

phhft....quick steering racks...it's just called a Howe Steering Quickener available from any stock car place...just need to do a little cut and weld on the old steering column

and the brakes...while its a decent idea....i think you'd prolly be better and cheaper to go with off the shelf rotors, and calipers.

You can go to any stock car place (i'm sure there's PLENTY where you live) and order up some Willwood calipers, and some off the shelf brake rotors...Then you'd just have to make custom rotor hats (piece of cake with right tools)

Run something like this up front....they are like $115 a caliper

And this in the rear...they are like $75 USD a caliper

Pads for both are dirt cheap..at like 40-50 a set.

for the rotors...something like this would be sufficent, and are stupid cheap at like 40 bucks a rotor!!!

Do this properly with a Dual Master Cylinder Set-up and it will perform better than the STi brembo stuff...

And be cheaper...as i'm sure you know how pricey the rotors are from Subaru for the STi, let alone caliper rebuild kits and stuff down the road.

and common.. you drive an RX...so the "bling" appeal isn't too great in the first place....

That's my 2 cents.
