300td4x4
Has anyone tried dual exhaust on a ej22 or any other subaru flat four for that matter? I would think this would improve performance. Obviously running the two exhaust pipes out the back would present issues.
75skunkaroo
i ran "dual" on my ea-71 for a few days. it was never a complete set up though, just 2" flex pipe that ended at the front of the front doors. it sounded like some old redneck farm truck without exhaust. i was thinkin about puttin lake pipes on my car lately... -mike
Skip
This is the wrong forum for EJ22 questions But I run a dual setup on one of my Brats The ticket is to put an "X" pipe in I believe this allows the scavaging effect to be maintained. I gained power from down low to about 6k I run Weber DGEV 32/36 on this engine This is what my setup looks like
MilesFox
refer to this post, there is an example of a dual exhaust there as well, demonstrating an x-over as skip mentions, and some exhaust theory http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=30262&highlight=dual+exhaust
300td4x4
So 2 pipes all the way out the back would be bad? How about an H pipe instead of an X pipe?
MilesFox
yeah that would work too, whichever would be easiest to fabricate, as long as you keep the theory in mind with your design
archemitis
true duals dont seem to work well at all. i tried all kinds of dual exhaust, as well as morganm. baffles, no baffles, cherry bombs, it seems like if its not x or h piped over it will run like crap, and sound like an airplane. but if you want it just to sound cool, those things sound like v8s with a hole just behind the first cat =] low deep rumble.
