Ross
I just bought a '79 4wd wagon im thinking about restoring. It needs a few things replaced such as front seats, door lock, boot lock. Anyone know how hard it would be to make some stuff (mainly the seats) out of my '81 wagon fit this? Cheers.
Caboobaroo
I don't think they'll bolt in. You'll need to make some sort of adapters for them but I'm not sure. I do know you have to adapt EA82 seats into them making an adapter for them. On the boot lock, you can maybe retrofit an EA82 wagon electric release mechanism into it. As for the door lock, not sure on that one. If you're gonna restore it, might as well do some mild upgrading to it. You can put the newer style EA81 vented rotors and calipers on it OR if you have access to a metal lathe, you can make new stabilizer bars for the EA81 control arms and use the EA81 control arms, hubs, balljoints, etc. I did this on my '79 wagon because the stock EA71 balljoint was like $36.00 a piece where the EA81 balljoint for a lifetime warrant one was $16.00. I've also done some other mods to gen 1s so lemme know if I can help. Enjoy!
