s'ko
are there any front strut bars available to the 1982 EA81s? Is this going to be a DIY job? BW

s'ko
So I am in the process of building one. IIFK the purpose of the bar is to put tension on the strut towers and form a solid link between the two strut towers. This would eliminate body flex. Design calls for two mounting plates on the strut towers. Then I have a bar in the middle. To create tension I will get a huge screw and that will be mounted to the mounting plate adjustable at the center bar. So.... does anyone know if it is best to make the strut bar pull the struts in or push them out. The two that I have installed both pushed. I could make it do both, but that would require a bit more engineering. BW
subyrally
you could always get a peice in the center that is threaded on both sides, in opposite directions, that you can turn to either loosen or tighten the brace. think of the supports that are on some old screen doors and gates.. it could work. Ross
Generally, the bar just supports the struts in their original position. With the subie, you could have it pushing the struts apart, as this will reduce the funny camber they have from the factory.
All_talk
Cornering loads will tend to spread the towers, so if in-turn flex is your concern you should preload with a slight bit of tension. Gary
WRCGVR4
Just resurrecting this thread. Is there any new info on this? I have a front and rear from a DSM turbo, so I will see how close they are if there isn't a strut bar out there that we know fits...
