Winterman
Just an observation. I finally "resolved" my Check Engine Light that I posted on 2-7-05 titled "O2 Sensor Issue." My mechanic replaced 2 O2 Sensors and the CE light still went on informing that the O2 Sensor was bad. He said something was frying the sensor and he would get back to me once he did a little research. I disconnected the battery when I was doing some wiring and wa la' the CE went off and stayed off. I can't take it to the mechanic because there is no code to troubleshoot. So I am not sure that the problem is fixed, but if it fine with my Subbie, it is fine with me. yarikoptic
You can have codes stored even without CEL light on.
friendly_jacek
Maybe your car had the ECU issue with ECU geting confused and throwing O2 codes left and right. There was a recall with ECU reprogram. Thust a thought.
Setright
Disconnecting the battery erases the ECU memory, I believe. If the mech replaced the O2 sensor without resetting the ECU, the the code would still be present and the CE light on. I think your new sensors are OK, and you just finished the mechs work when you disconnected the battery ;-)
