*****up-date*****

LOL!!!! of all the stupid things to miss ... I just needed a new mixture controll solenoid .. for now I have the old one taped in place :D hope Subaru doesn't want $9,000 for a new one

well, I got a Chilton, so you already know half of my problem o.O

I'm trying to figure out where the adjustment hight is for the float level on my EA-81 carb from my '85 brat ... the book says the hight should be 0.435-0.492 in. (11.5-12.5 mm) and the diagram shows what looks like inverting the fload assembly, and making the first measurment from the choke chamber to the top of the float, but I want to make sure this is right ... the written instructions refer to "the air horn?!" I have no idea what that is :drunk: and the diagram also seems to show some other measurement with the float fully extended down (with the valve fully opened) just wana make sure I do this right before I put this all back together ... also ... the sight glass for the float bowl ... where should the fuel level be judging from the sight glass? the middle?

The float level was about in the middle of the sight glass in my carbd ea81. Im sure there is a diagram that might help you in my manual, but i cant find it! When i do, ill post a pic of the page if you want.

You`re right, air horn is another name for the top of the carb.

Correct on the 2 adjustments as well.Float height and drop in that order.Fuel in the middle of the glass.

thanks u2! I really thought that was correct but just needed to get it confirmed ... I have rebuilt alot of motorcycle carbs, but all these hoses make this kind of carb sorta intimidating

I got it all back together now ... taking a break to eat and rest then finish up and see how she purrs! :D

I need to visit the auto store again tonight to get new belts and the second fuel filter that's near the rear passenger side tire and then I will see if I get some decient mileage now

I have been getting bearly 20 mpg and my poor brat struggles to go more than 75 on flat road ... I hope my cat isn't plugged too :dead:

Ok ... I replaced the rear fuel filter, and thought maybe I discovered something ... it appeared that it was on back-wards ... and yet it still wants to have the mixture screw waaaay out ... anyone know what kind of mixture screw it is? air or gas?
