jstoker
I am looking for a carb to put on an EA-82 that I pulled from a carburated '86 Subaru GL wagon. I have the stock carb, but am looking to simplify engine and improve performance to use in a hovercraft I am building. Thanks for any advice; I don't know a lot about these engines. 85Sub4WD
A Weber DGV or DGAV would be very good choices if you want to stay with a carb. DGV = Manual Choke DGAV = Automatic Electric Choke you can find the adaptor kit here http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/subaru it is pro'lly as cheap as a new hitachi, but more reliable and easier to rebuild it should work on your engine though it does not say so because the bolt pattern is the same for those cars
[ i ]nsane
I heard the webers get less gas milage, is this true?
Turbone
No. If they are jetted and tuned correctly, they can get better mileage.

jstoker
Thanks for the info guys. Like a Weber 32/36, or something else. Also, are they simple mechanical carbs? without sensors, vacuum lines, etc? Jeff
habib99
Are you fitting the carb to a turbo EA82? If you are I would love to know how the carb copes with the forced induction. If not -maybe I should start a different thread on the subject
pyromanic
Ok, I think I'm ready to weberize my 85 wagon. I took a look at the link above, and am confused. That webpage "Webercarbsdirect" says that that is a DGEV. But the provider of the link talks about DG "A" V. I have a Haynes techbook "Weber Carburetor Manual", and I don't even see a DGEV. I don't want to buy the wrong carb. So is that really what I want? The DGEV from Webercarbsdirect? Is the bolt pattern really the same? This is for a 1985 GL wagon, 5sp DR, EA82. Thanks for any help Pyro
jstoker
Are you fitting the carb to a turbo EA82? No, no turbo. And as I said, the EA-82 winn no longer be used in the soob. I'm using it in a hovercraft.
jstoker
I telephoned the company above yesterday, they said they were out of stock of weber 32/36 until late May or June. They can get all the conversion parts though if you have your own carb.
jstoker
If anyone has a weber 32/36 DGV for sale, I'd be interested. Jeff
Craven
Here is a few good deals, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33550&item=7962071826&rd=1 or http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33550&item=7963295219&rd=1 and it looks like the adapter would work also. Get a carb rebuild kit and you would be set to go. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33551&item=7963224586&rd=1 There are a lot of webers on ebay right now.
