So i was looking-thinking again...

Recommended Posts

The sypder intake has a rather large plenum chamber...and it looks as if the WRX/STi and the normal Leone MPFI/turbo intake plenums are the same size....or similar.

BOTH of them dump stright into a wall of aluminium.

the spyder and early EJ manifolds dont. The NA EJ's have a better spyder design....the newer EJ's have a similar to non-spyder EA82 MPFI intake look to them until you get to the runners.

I am thinking that its evidently no so important on the turbos that you have such design...as subaru engineers see it.

I think I'll just bolt a large TB on the normal manifold.

opinions?

I not know what to do.

Really, I need to just drive it. It needs more grip before I add more power...except for the turbo. I'd like to get more spool and low end...and a little top end. Thats what the Deadbolt PnP turbo is for...thats it for power for a while.

I am probly going to go with a full bushing set next.

In the mean time...I will be brain storming monster power from alot of stock parts....the RX will not be the wagon all over again. No shortcuts or BS rigging.

intake manifold design is not as important on Turbo cars as it is on N/A cars.

the main reason being that you have the turbo there to cram the air into the cylinders...

for an N/A car it's important to draw air into the runners, and keep a steady flow up.

Not to say that you wouldn't notice an improvement...

The part i like about the "spider" manifolds is that they keep the runners cooler...i think this is because the coolant "manifold" is much further away, as with the normal ea82T turbo the coolant "manifold" is VERY tight against the intake and is bound to cause some heat soak.

So you're not gonna bastardize the RX then since you have to drive it? WOOHOO!!!

Why don't you drop a mock-up motor into the wagon and make a setup work on that instead of trying to make it work on the car you drive everyday?
