Chef
Ahh... one's turbocharged, the other isn't...? You'll need to be a bit more specific as to what you'd like to know. What is the difference:Turbo Legacy AWD 5mt N/A Legacy AWD 5mt
beezer
Chef, I think he wants to know the difference in the trans. between the 2. As far as I can see from the owners manual, the differnce is the turbo has a hydraulic clutch where the NA has a cable and the final gear ratios are different. Otherwise I think they are the same, could be wrong though.
subeman90
^^^^^ correct! If you are looking to put a turbo tranny in a NA car you can with a little bit of part swapping. I did this on a 90 AWD wagon.....just make sure you change the diff: turbo=3.9 na=4.11 (unless you are talking about someting newer than it might be a 4.44 (assuming you are talking about 90-94 legacys) Matt
XSNRG
want to know the difference in the trans, I didn't know about the clutch. Mainly I was wondering about the center diff, are they the same?
Legacy777
yeah i think the center diff is the same.
XSNRG
So when I see an add for a turbo leg that states "true 50/50 torque split" it isn't something unique to the turbo trans? Just bull?
beezer
Think it just means it is a manual, the auto's have a 90-10 split under normal conditions I think.
Legacy777
doesn't really matter about turbo or auto. It's the trans. As beezer mentioned, mt's have 50/50 torque split. the older autos have 90/10 under normal driving. The newer ones are 45/55.
