rweddy
Looks like my insurance might total my OWB. What kind of mpg can I expect from 2.5 5spd combo? My current 2.2 gets 28-30 highway. Will a 2.5 get close to the same? Thanks
northguy
What year are you looking at? You should be in the ballpark, though.

northguy
If you go with a first gen obw 2.5, watch for head gasket problems.
outback_97
rweddy: FWIW I get around 27-28 mpg highway on my '97 Legacy OBW, with automatic. I think 30 may be a bit optimistic, but high 20's definitely. I'm in Utah, so I figure we have somewhat similar elevations and terrain. 732002
My auto 96 OBW gets 22-24mpg. Might be better with new HG's. I wish I bought a legacy L wgn. They sell for less, I don't need the ground clearance, and I think the 2.2 has less head gasket problems than 2.5's.
