Mark Capuano
I've been told that when my Legacy Outback needs a new muffler to start a savings account, because it's about $1200, even from midas! Why is this? Now mine is starting to get loud, and I'm wondering if there is a cheaper alternative to shelling out this much money for a new exhaust system. mrtoyou7747
That's if you repalce the complete exhaust system. The 2 cat converters alone are about $
Flowmastered87GL
if its JUST a muffler that i needs, just stick on a flowmaster or something... or a glasspack. If cats are needed also... then I can see how it can be expensive
ferret
Check the following link IF you need the Cat Cons: http://www.discountconverter.com/converters/subaru/subaru_direct_fit.cfm
johnd911
the original (320,000 miles) has just lost the skin, still isn't any louder though- any web pages that have a replacement JUST AS GOOD as the original? for a good price........ thanks
ShawnW
Subaru Part number is 44305AC361 and list is $220 and Subaruparts.com is shown as stocking the part and selling it for 167.60 plus shipping of around $17. Theres a gasket between the muffler section and the intermediate pipe that you need in order to replace it which is 44022AA210 which is around $7. This assumes you have a 2.5L Outback. crazyeric
autozone has generic mufflers you can just weld onto your pipes for like 40 bucks.
