soobme
When I got my '85 turbo 7mo ago, I did not know that the cats wer starting to close up on it. But as time went on it became clear that somthing was very wrong. So today I made a new down pipe with only a glass pack muff on it, I used a 2" mandrell U bend and cut and welded it to shape.WOW!!!!!!!! I MEAN WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This car will burn them off (all 4 that is) on the 2nd to 3rd shift!!!!! I was thinking of swaping out the EA82T for an EA81.NOT ANY MORE! :burnout:

soobme
The car wouldn't rev past 5000RPM before, and would never boost past 6psi. I am now making 11psi @ 5800RPM. Dam this thing it FAST! I had know idea just how much the cats wer killing it. I think I will turn it down to 9 or 10psi and call it good till I get the by-pass valve in:clap:
TheSubaruJunkie
Can you make more of those downpipes? My roomies turbo could use one. -Brian
Caboobaroo
Andrew needs one for his 87 turbowagon. He was going to go down to a muffler shop and have them make one for his "rally car" but if he can get one for a bit cheaper, I know he'll do it! WJM
Yeah...how much is one of those DP's running now? I was thinking 3 inch...or 2.5 at least, with a separator and separate pipe for the wastegate, and join it downstream at the bend maybe...if I were to make one. archemitis
wastegate should stick out of the hood! or at least a fender but thats only good with a boost controller. otherwise its loud all the time
soobme
I could make another one, but U would have to use your'e old turbo flange and weld the new down pipe onto that. Would cost around $35 to make another one. I put a new boost gauge on and my by-pass valve. Iv'e got the boost set @ 11psi. When I take off I let the cluch out @ around 1100RPM's, let it roll up to about 2700RPM's and then floor it:burnout: . It starts to burn the tires off @ 10psi and by 11psi its so light and out of controll in the front I have to back out of it:clap: I have not had a car that was this much fun to drive since my last 230HP turbo'ed Baja!
