northguy
A huge thanks to Snowman for his help and expertise this weekend as we (mostly Kelly) installed a 5spd d/r, new 1 piece driveshaft and LSD in my 83 Brat. I still have to figure out some linkage anomolies but it seems to work well. Thanks again Kelly. I couldn't have done it without your help. Snowman
I'm so glad to hear that it's working out well. I was a bit nervous jumping into the project as well, but it seems that everything fit together without too much trouble. Now we just need to get started on an EJ conversion.... . MorganM
Awsome !_! How much did that custom drive shaft set you back?
northguy
Awsome !_! How much did that custom drive shaft set you back? Local shop did it for $130. It is much better than trying to weld in the carrier bearing on the ea82 2 piece shaft.
bratsrus1
Hey Matt This is Jerry, i would like to know how you like the 5 speed in your brat? People want to know also was the 5 speed kit EZ to install? Let me know Thanks Jerry
northguy
Jerry, the 5 speed is a major improvement, and the shift kit went in pretty slick. We had to make a couple of minor modifications but other than that, things went smoothly. I put one of the shifter linkages in backwards and it hit the driveline in 5th gear, but that was an easy remedy. It looks completely stock. Too sweet, Jerry. Thyanks again. Definitely worth the little extra you charge to have the end result look as good as your kit makes my Brat look.
