Brumby004
Okay, I've got myself a 88 Brumby/Brat with the old analogue dash in it. What I want to do is fit a 82 Leone analogue dash with tacho where the old poxy one sat. Most of this has been done at this stage but what holds me back atm is the hazard/turn/indicator plug/s. On the original set-up(88), these plugs where divided into 2 plugs with a total of 11pins. Yet on the older dash(82), this plug is only a 10pin connector running a total of 9pins. So as us Aussie's would say, I'm up ************e creek, in a barbed-wired canoe without a paddle. Anyone care to giv me a push or do I just sink and bear it? Thanks Ray
MilesFox
you may have to cut and slice the connectors to the harness, and align the proper color wires and such. if you had a schematic for both years you could read what color wire is what function the pins can be popped out of the plastic connector, suppose you could do that swap the plastic connectors for the new dash on the old harness
stinky
Is the tacho from the leone the same size as the clock on the brumby/brat ? I've seen subies where the ( generally broken ) clock has been chopped out and a tacho of the same size put in it's place.
555Ron
I have the wiring diagrams for the 82 year models and for a late utility model. If you could give me the main colour and the tracer colour in the order on the 82 model car i might be able to help you out with functions, and where to put what where from your car to the dash. ausubaru92
Ive recently done one in my wagon, just make sure you label both sets of dash wires and then you can pop them out of the plastic connector and replace them in the propper slot (as milesfox said)
Brumby004
Okay, After further study on wiring loom from my old setup, I've encountered more problems. Most Brumby's and Sportswagons that I've seen, carry a bank or two of relays in the engine bay, usually around the strut housings. Mine doesn't run any such system, far from it. It is totally basic in that respect. What I believe to be two relays are actually part of the original dash loom and are situated under the dash itself, inside the car. The old loom has 3 round plugs for the instrument panel, where the new has 2 plus 3 block connectors. Speedo is cable so that isn't an issue. Warning lights and oil pressure light/guage, coupled with petrol gauge, voltage meter and water temp guage are similar in both panels, so I believe that if I find the right connection for each guage and light, I might just be able to use the old loom, re-wiring it approiately to the new instrument panel. What I know about both cars is that the Leone was 2door coupe,2wd auto 1982 DL, where the Brumby is a Targa 1988 DL. I've been using a Haynes manual as reference but would be interested in any other wiring diagrams that might help with my dilemna. Ray
