Jes remember to let it set up a bit, then screw it in, and let it set a little longer after that. I've seen people use the tape without problems, but personally, I wouldn't. Skip Posted September 3, 2003 Share Posted September 3, 2003 When appling the teflon tape do not allow it to cover the opening. Wind it clockwise and only on the threads. If you apply it properly there is no chance of it getting into the oil passages. I feel it seals better with less torque than pipe dope. Maybe you had it confused with silicone sealant? When it is used on surfaces such as cam/valve covers or oil pans, a very thin layer must be used. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
