mcbrat
this one was aquired in a sort of 3 way trade..... they are out there... there's a board member who has one new in the box, with both Superwinch and SUBARU instructions.... very cool. it's just a Superwinch 1500 lb winch, but it was painted yellow.... archemitis
sorry to get off topic, but a 1500lb winch should do the job on a light subaru, 0r sould i be looking at bigger ones?

I've got a 4500 lb pull one on my brat...
Sweet82
I have the non stock Harbor Freight $39-49, #2000, winch on the buggy. Other than being black, I think it would be a good cheap starting point for off-road needs? Comes with 50ft of cable. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=92860 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=32&sort=1&cat=500&page=3 McBrat, where'd you get the pulley block? I had to make one? I'd prefer a real one... My .02, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

WoodsWagon
I'm putting a used milemarker 6,000# winch on mine. My friend has a warn 12k# winch, and that thing doesn't slow down pulling anything out. Remember, the pull the winch has to put on goes way up when you're buried in mud.
