Cougar
Welcome to the family. Hope you really like your new car. If your like myself this will be the first of a line in the future with Subaru. For an extended warranty, you should check with your insurance company. They may be able to offer you the samething for far less money than the dealer policy. mtsmiths
1. I doubt you will ever need an extended warranty on a 2005 Subaru. 2. If you feel you must, by all means do as suggensted, and buy it from your regular insurance underwriter, NOT from the dealer ... period. 3. BUY it, don't finance it. demetri
since i'm in canada it works a bit different up here. only the dealer can offer me an extended warranty. my insurance coverage has nothing to do with operating defects. are there any issues on the automatic that might be of importance? i've been searching on this forum and didnt come up with much, i'll keep looking. great forum! mattocs
3. BUY it, don't finance it. Alot people are working class folks...and they cannot straight up BUY a new car...if even pay for one financed...that is why the used car market is so big I'd say BUY it (fianance it) but just don't LEASE it. I guess I didn't make my intent clear. I meant BUY the extended warranty policy outright, don't pay for an insurance policy with borrowed money. If I 'could' buy a new car outright, I'd still buy used. I let someone else take the 'over the curb' depreciation hit for the pleasure of that new car smell. Yeah...I am still waiting for a 95 Legacy with really really low miles to come along...10 year old car...but if it has 50,000 miles on it...it hasn't even been broken in

05blusub
Demetri, we both have the same car..today is the second day of driving, up to 31 miles. The dealer buying experience was typical, they pound for more money. I traded in my 2001 Outback(ok, I had a windfall of enough money to do so) plus 12.5K, figure to be just below MSRP. Steering feels a bit heavier in the new Outback, not bad, just different from the 2001. Eric
