2005 Outback Stereo Question...

Recommended Posts

I just bought me an Outback Wagon Sport with the P-133, 6 disc in-dash changer. I'd like to hook my ipod directly to it, if possible. I hit this site, and Scoobymods, and saw that it is possible if I have the CD Changer input.

Does anyone know if there is one there? I looked thru the book that came with the car, but nothing was listed.

Also, is there any other way to hook an ipod up? I can use the FM Transmitter, but the sound kinda sucks... too staticy... the reception was better in my old F150.... but the Subie is way more fun to drive, and a helluva lot cheaper on gas!

Any help would be great...

I think it can be done fairly easy but you will have to tap into the audio output wires from the CD unit if there are no standard connectors on the output to use, as I suspect may be the case. If I was doing this, I would install a 3.5mm stereo jack in the line. Like the kind that makes and breaks the circuit to a speaker/ headphone jack. Someone that has the ability to know what wires to use and is good with a soldering iron should be able to handle this modification.

Thanks,

i'm just concerned that there may not be any wires, to tap into, as the changer and radio seem to be a 1 piece unit. I wish I could find a schematic, or at least a picture of the back on it, without having to pull it all out myself.
