whether i should get a weber or not <<UPDATE>>

Recommended Posts

I've heard a lot of good about the weber carbs but i want to ask your opinion. Im thinking about putting one on my EA-81. Will it make a big difference in the way the car accelerate? Will it cure my cold engine hessitation? Is it clear how to hook up all those damn hoses under the hood to the new carb?

Is there a noticable improvement in performance with the weber carb? how much does it cost? Does it improve fuel economy? My wagon is only getting 22-23 MPG's and I sure miss the 30MPG's that the EA81's were giving me the last 10 years!

Edit: can someone tell if this is the correct carb or not? http://www.stoveboltengineco.com/acartpro/product.asp?productid=95 it doesn't say what model/size it is, so didn't know. For $65 vs. what I'm seeing them go for on ebay, etc. - good deal if it's the right one......

that doesn't look quite right. it may be the holly weber 5200, wich i think will be less powerful. it is a very similar carb and will work on a soobie, but it's not quite the same as a weber 32/36 dgev (or av the one in the pic has water choke like av. i say go with ev the electric choke)

i had problems with hitachi carbs for YEARS! i am nothing but happy with my weber.

Had the Weber on my Brat for 3.5 years now and it really does simplify life, you can actually see all of the motor now. Just took my 195/75/14 allterrains off two tanks ago and installed a pair of 195/70/13s that I had in the barn to check mpg with the odometer reading right for a change, 29.5 mpg average between two tanks of gas. The Weber really adds good bottom end power to my Brat, I would say go for it.
