fishingsteve
I've got a 88 GL Wagon 4x4 with about 280K miles. I put a nubile young engine in a couple years ago (it only had 167K miles). Today, my center exhaust pipe broke at the welded joint, where it attaches to the y-pipe. My question, is there an inexpensive way to fix it? Thanks, steve
carfreak85
Yes there are a few ways to fix this. First would be to take it to your local muffler shop and have them weld it back up. This would be an inexpensive way to go about fixing it. A second way would be to go to a junk yard and pull yourself a new y-pipe or mid pipe and swap it with your old one. Just make sure the engines are of the same asperation (non-turbo, etc). If you do the labor yourself, this could be the most cost effective way to go. Or you could buy an aftermarket replacement exhaust. Hope this helps!
