I bought myself a newer Subaru

Recommended Posts

I bought a new Subaru. I had two cars, a '90 Thunderbird Supercoupe and '93 Turbo Legacy.

I'm not a huge performance guy, so I decided I wanted something newer, more luxurious, nice looking, and still reasonably fun to drive. I bought this.

It's a '98 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT. 2.5l boxer engine mated to a 5-spd AWD tranny. The car had 90k miles on it. Here are some more pictures. My old Legacy has already been sold, and someone's flying out to look at the T-Bird (and hopefully pick it up) on Saturday.

The EJ25 is slightly more powerful than my old EJ22t (165hp compared to 160) but the car feels a tiny bit slower than my old turbo. I don't know what either car weighed, but it's a small difference.

It's interesting to see the difference in performance between the two cars. The 2.5 feels torqueier, while the turbo felt faster (after the turbo kicked in).

Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase. What do you guys think?

So that's what my car would look like if it were pimped out. I'm going to have to think about tinting my windows. And wow, that's a very clean engine compartment.

This is the right time of year to buy a Subaru. Enjoy your new car.

He was asking $9600 (which was Trade-In blue book value), Private sale BB was $8000. I ended up paying him $8500 for it.

Looks good. Tex told me it was a looker.

Heh, being a vain, single, 24 year old male who works full time and has little to waste his money on (no girlfriend)... I'd consider this a perfect car for me :D

That is one beautiful car! I just cleaned up the inside of mine a bit yesterday and was feeling pretty proud until I saw your pics. If that car is in good of shape as it looks, it must run like new or better.

Congratulations,

Chef

Dude, that engine bay in super clean.

You've got yourself a nice looking ride. I bought my 95 LSi wagon last year and am still making changes to it, so I envy your hatch visor and hood scoop. (I put a new hood on mine last year and wish I'd bought a scooped hood...) The wagons, IMHO, are much cooler than the sedans, so you've got a sporty, classy car that kicks butt in practicality too. Subaru wagons look so stealthy with tinted windows. These are great cars--you'll have a blast in yours.

I wish I could find a peach like that. I did but my sister bought it. Most in the UK are pretty knackered and stink of wet dogs.

Here's a tip-If your car stinks of wet dogs, put a washing up bowl of fresh lawn clippings on the back seat. Replace each week for a month. MMMMM- 1st cut fresh. Nothing else works.
