sheppie62
I am thinking about bringing and leaving an 85 wagon up there from California. Is there any smog checks, fees for bringing in a car from a different state, any estimate on registration fees. Thanks!

hush777
In idaho and where I live in Boise County (south of CDL) you need to have a sherrif or the local DMV verify the vin on the car and title to do the registration. In Boise County there are no smog checks, no emmisions of any kind and registration is about $50 for a car that was purchased for $100 ($6.00 tax) tax is the same through out the state so add 6 for each $100. Shadyirishmen
I know you are asking about cour d'alene, but if you are near Oregon we have way laxed licensing and smog fees. To license your vehicle here it is about 50-100 depends on how expired your tags are, and almost all the places around Oregon do not require DEQ only the large metropolitan areas like portland and and I think salem require it. GOOD LUCK JM I am thinking about bringing and leaving an 85 wagon up there from California. KStretch55
Just re-registered my 91 wagon in Boise County. $32.00. I work in Boise, but moved up out of Ada county to get out of the city. I grew up in small towns. Another reason was to avoid the ridiculous annual emission check required in Ada county. They require a brand new vehicle to get a check, but an ancient old smoker doesn't need one. Now, you tell me, is that just another way for the county to get some of my hard earned cash, or what? Hey Hush, what side of the hill do you live on? Hwy 55 or Hwy 21? I'm about halfway between Boise and Idaho City.

sheppie62
Sorry for the misspelling. I am thinking of buying some property there, and leaving my trusty wagon there so I have a car when I fly up.
simpkin007
I am thinking about bringing and leaving an 85 wagon up there from California. Is there any smog checks, fees for bringing in a car from a different state, any estimate on registration fees. Thanks! There are no smog tests. License and registration is cheap - probably about 45 dollars.
