Steves72
This question is related to my a 2000 OBW. I have been surprised by quite a few things on this, my first Subaru. But, the one that was the most surprising was the fact that the doors do not lock automatically once the car is put into gear or taken out of park. Should the doors auto lock? If not, in what model year did Subaru put in this feature? Steve

Cars that do stupid things like that automatically really annoy me...

(I have seen Chrylser products that lock the doors when the vehicle gets up to a certain speed - about 8 mph.) On Subarus from 2003 and newer, the horn will beep when the lock button on the remote is pressed 3 times. One annoying "feature" of the Subaru door lock/alarm system is that if you get in the car and lock the doors before closing all of them the alarm will be enabled, just as if you were leaving the car and hit the lock switch before closing the door. Then when you put the key in the ignition and try to start the car, it won't start and the alarm will sound. Once this happens, you have to either press one of the buttons on the remote or turn the the key in the ignition 10 times in order to reset the alarm and start the car. Steves72
Thanks for the confirmation. My wife's 99 Grand Prix auto locks, as did an older 92 Chrysler. A 91 Camaro that the OBW replaced did not. Steve

Tiny Clark
Ditto, auto locks suck. If I wanted to lock the doors, then I would.
