Exhaust pipes would be GREAT! If you could do the Y-Pipe w/ Cat, Intermediate Pipe, and a muffler for $300 .. you'd have my business. but it needs to be a proper soobie style "Y" - pipe.. not some POS like WALKER POS POS POS STUPID POS "T" into the CAT Pipe!! GRRRR I hate those SOBS!!! Hehe.. had to rant! and oh yeah.. LOCKERS!

You would definitely be camouflaged in the cow fields.

To all those that want skidplates, here's some advice:

If you need a skidplate, you're not lifted enough.

Toss out everything else.. lockers are the way to go! Something like an OX locker would be the absolute greatest thing! (reference: http://www.tonsure.com/4x4/ox.htm and http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/brandpages/ford/131_0209_lock/)

Some lower low range gears would also be beneficial.

Oh yeah.. a 50 BMG (non-functional of course) and its accompanying mount would also be a welcome addition on my Brat. Hell, I'm already painted up for it. :D

When you do start making the brushgaurds keep in mind that you want to help the approach angle not destroy it. I've seen quite a bit of subies with brushgaurds that kill the approach angle.

I'm looking for more body mods for on the street. Looking into fiberglass widebody kit as already mentioned or maybe some fender flares to give my RX a more WRX stance instead of being flat and boring... fiberglass hood with WRX hoodscoop mounted in it as well:D

I hear you brother, i have got the design. Another problem I have seen is weight, people put these humongeous cow bars on the front good god it will eat ten of your 80 horsepower.

Weight is an issue, but you could probably put around 50lbs and it wouldn't hurt. And 50lbs is a lot of bumper.

maybe somebody already said this, but I would like to see A gen one brat top without the large lump for the roll bar, and like everybody else, WHEELS.:)

Just was thinking about it, Maybe you could fab up some dual carb intakes too.:brow:

Hi This is Jerry, everybody is asking for these things for the outside of there cars. Well the bestest thing any body can come up with is a set of gears for the 5 speed dual range tranny 4.44 Come on everybody say yes that would be a great idea, i can't hear you say YES. Oh BTW i am first in line to buy these gears. Thanks Jerry

If you make the brushguards or bullbars out of alloy (aluminium) I don't think weight will be an issue.

Most bullbars on Subies in Oz are alloy.

Mine is mainly 8mm in the bumper area and heavy walled tube.

I can lift it without effort with one hand.

(no steriods or freaky stength here)

The 10mm skid plate (sump to gearbox) weighs about the same.

  • 3 months later...

the one thing i want for my soob that is not available, or i can't find at least, is a brush gaurd the does not require removing the stock bumper. I want something that will protect the front of my car, (from deer for example) something like you would see on a toyota 4-runner only in a flat black. would have to be semi light wieght too, adding 200lbs to the front of my car is not what i have in mind..

If it had a steel mounting point and center braces in front of the grill, then aluminum outer frame that goes around the headlights, and aluminum tubes between the center bars in front of the grill.

then shipped in the raw so i could paint it, or you could offer colors, etc..

thats what i want personally.. since i have no interest in lifting my soob..

can you help i wonder?
