[HTi]Johnson
Hello. One problem and one question. Problem: When I drive my 1987 GL-10 Turbo (DUH)..and I get into the throttle...it'll go..then stumble...almost like the waste gate is opening...allowing exhaust to bypass the turbo...it usually happens around 4000rpms...then if I push in the clutch and rev it up to like 6k then come back into gear, it'll go away for a bit. Anyone have a clue why? And. Will a EA81 Flywheel and clutch pack fit into a 5speed D/R Ea82?(Ok, so two questions) Thanks for your time, and wisdom [HTi]Johnson
NorthWet
A not-so-obvious possibility for your stumble is ignition issues, particularly plugs and plugwires. I had power holes all over my rev range (i.e power 0-2k ... dead 2k-3.5k...power 4-redline). Replacing my plugs helped; also replacing my wires REALLY helped. It became fun to drive again. [HTi]Johnson
Oh yeah, I completely spaced the wires...I'll get a cap, rotor, and wire set. DUH! Then I'll check the timing. Thanks...
Dennis ex24
this is one of those wierd EA82T ailments that everyone finds a different cure for. i had an '87 GL10 like 5 years ago that drove me absolutely nuts trying to figure this out. some say its an ignition issue, some say its a fuel issue (octane), some say its a turbo issue. i got rid of mine before i fgued it out, but i think i remember zeroing in on the coolant temp sensor...however i forget why. try all of these, start with the cheapest first. fill the tank up with super and see if that doesnt do it... good luck. Dennis ex24
also, can i ask why would you want the EA81T clutch/flywheel set up? go with the bigger XT6 clutch and ask one of the guys on here to lighten your flywheel. i did this and got my flywheel down 9lbs if i remember right, what a difference. [HTi]Johnson
Well, I pulled my clutch outta my EA81 engine...it only has about 3k easy miles on it.
critical_max
Hey, I have the same thing going on with an EA82T. The stumble is between 2K-3K. Plugs are new, OEM spec NGK. Wires are new OEM Subaru from dealer. No noticeable difference after doing that. I have OEM cap/rotor from dealer that I need to install. Maybe that'll solve it. coolant temp sensor was already replaced a while back.
DeathHatch
now i have a question about temp. she doesnt leak water when shes not running. and i have tightened the hoses down. but is still losing water. i start my car and it runs for a lil bit then warms up and stays about the middle bars. then when i start beatin it, it gets really warm not quite in the red zone but really close. then i let up and it goes back down to normal. but then some times when im being gental it might go back up to the almost red spot then cool back down with out me even changing the way im drivin. this sounds like a thermostat to me. now should i go buy a new one or do i have an head gasket leak thats vermy minamal.
