jonzilla
Hi, My seatbelt doesn't retract far enough in my 93 Justy. I took the door panel off to investigate, and while the bottom roller works fine, the top roller mechanism only retracts the belt in a few turns, leaving the seatbelt **way** to slack for use. Has anyone had any success repairing the mechanism on these cars, or have any other advice? Thanks.
ShawnW
Replace it, they arent that expensive even for a new one and you dont want to risk it not working in an accident. They arent easy enough to fix to warrant the time.
jonzilla
Thanks, Shawn. What kind of ballpark cost am I looking at for a replacement unit?
SevenSisters
It wouldn't surprise me if they fixed this potential safety defect for free. Check with the dealer.
jonzilla
Thanks Seven. I asked the dealer once about a repair and they said it'd be standard shop time parts and labor; nothing about fixing a safety defect. I wonder if I could get Subaru to arrange for a fix, though. Any idea on a contact for them?
