DammitBeavis
Well, after gleaning info from the generous members of this board, the XT6 was race-worthy. Trailered it out to the site and ran it hard. Made it through 4 of the 6 runs before I totally lost oil pressure. Looks like I'll need to pull the pump and see what's wrong. Engine was running hotter than I thought it should too, almost got into the red by run 3. Hopped into the WRX for the last 2 runs, but didn't have time to adapt to the extra power. The Lincoln Locker really helped the power-on oversteer. Notice the BMW X5 and the new EVO VIII that came out to play! Anyway, I've linked the pics from the event below. 56K beware Nice action shot: http://www.rallycross.us/tot/totthumbs/p1010106.jpg Lack of rear handbrake sucked here: http://www.rallycross.us/tot/totthumbs/p1010110.jpg More dirt-slinging action: http://www.rallycross.us/tot/totthumbs/p1010116.jpg Lots of other good pics: http://www.rallycross.us/tot/totthumbs/0803%20RallyX%20Page.html

DammitBeavis
We rallycross mostly in fields, but it's a lot more fun and organized than just going out and bombing around. I know that a rallycross course has been setup at the Tire Rack facility in South Bend Indiana? You can go to http://www.rallycabal.com for more info. If you want REAL rally be prepared to spend REAL money. If you're interested the Old Miners Day rally is next month in Missouri. You can find REAL rally information on http://www.specialstage.com . Rallycross is cheap, easy, and a lot of fun. We'll be running a rallycross as a support event to the Old Miners Day rally. It will be considered stage 1 for the REAL rally cars. They will go through our course first, then the public is invited to try and match their times. Should be a lot of fun!
Myxalplyx
DammitBeavis, The XT6 looks so out of place rally crossing because of its 'futuristic wedge' shape and all. Little do a lot of people know is that it's in its element on the dirt. Nice pics! Mind if I link this post to those folks at the Yahoo and xt6.org sites? DammitBeavis
Link away! Just make sure you point out the website it's on (we're trying to get the word out for our region) I wouldn't say that it feels 'in it's element' in the dirt really. It's got potential, but it's going to take some work to make it do the job. Trying to use it with the automatic and the factory torque split was messed up. It was very unpredictable under power in turns. After I rigged a switch to lock it in 4WD and welded the rear diff it improved the handling by at least 50%. The auto transmission feels like it was made for this purpose. When I get the oil pump fixed (assuming the engine isn't damaged) I'm going to work on getting a little more torque out of her. See how much timing advance I can add, and maybe play with the cams a little. Then again I might be spoiled since I got my first taste of rallycross in a '00 2.5RS and have been using a '02 WRX.
